CTC version 5.5 has now been released and is available from our download page. It contains some enhancements partially based on customer feedback.
There was a problem not being able to assign a speed list when none was assigned to begin with. This area was addressed somehow for blocks but not for other objects where speed lists can be assigned. The click on the button would lead to nowhere. This is fine during run mode to avoid runtime exceptions (defaults are applied then) but not during editing. So the speed list button now behaves the same for switches etc as it is for blocks. There was also an internal problem affecting blocks also, that has been addressed.
Some error conditions were added to the consistency check area, that can help to direct you to the area where the problem is – otherwise it may not be so obvious.
If a drawbridge is in error (linkage or speed list), the drawbridge track object is listed in the error list. Clicking on it opens the linkinfo panel, not the usual detailed window, because the detailed window is available for the whole drawbridge, not for a single track thereof. The “show more” option would go to the detailed window for other objects, but not for the drawbridge track. So in this instance the “show more” function would go to the detailed window of the whole drawbridge.
The Train Sched detailed window allows now to go directly to the referenced object in the section list (another schedule, an extern group, or a station group) and in the station list. A double left click on that item (actually any on that line) opens the panel where you can manipulate some details about that section or the station stop (this does not change), but a double right click on the item as described above will now open a window with detailed data about this object itself. This is especially valuable if the referenced item is another schedule – no need to go to the detailed list and look for the schedule there.
Finally, you may have read in the manual about the way to cancel routes that you laid in but you changed your mind. In the real world you have to reset the signals first and in a separate step to cancel the route itself, which you can’t do if the signals still indicate “clear”. That is how CTC was set up originally, but it was changed to allow the option to cancel the route in one step: you just say cancel route, and the signals would be reset automatically if necessary. Well, it was never implemented to allow a choice for you – was on the back burner, forgotten, whatever. So, after all these years, I got finally around to add an option “Two Step Route Cancel” to the “Operation Mode” menu in the main panel. That flag is stored in the scene config file, so you can set it differently depending on the territory.
Enjoy the game and happy Dispatching
