2.2 The Registration Model

Most of the CTC territories come in three variants: FREE, STANDARD, and PREMIUM.

  • FREE: it really means, what it says. You don’t need to pay anything just to have a sneak preview. The CTC simulator will have the full functionality, but the data provided for the individual territories will be smaller (less trains, less complex). Some advanced features are not available.

  • STANDARD: If you buy a registration code for your copy of the CTC simulator, all territories will be loaded at least in STANDARD version, which contain more than the FREE version but less than the PREMIUM version. It also includes a demo version of the EDITOR. This is a one-time registration for your installed copy. If you download an updated version of the simulator, the registration code will be carried over.

  • PREMIUM: The registration code for the premium version is assigned per territory. A PREMIUM territory can be edited by you if you also have the EDITOR license for CTC. If you download an updated version of the territory, the registration code will be carried over.

To summarize: PREMIUM is per territory, STANDARD applies to all territories.

There may be small territories, where the higher variants are not supplied.

EDITOR: There is also the EDITOR within CTC which can be fully activated with the registration code for the EDITOR (like STANDARD, a one-time registration for your copy of the CTC program). It will allow you to create and modify your own territories and also modify territories for which you have purchased the PREMIUM license. Note that any edits cannot be shared with other CTC users. A demo preview of the EDITOR with limited functionality can be invoked if you have the STANDARD license for CTC.

Again, upgrades to the program and territories come at no additional cost to you.
