3.1 How to start the Simulator

As with any Windows programs, you start CTC either by using the Windows Explorer, a shortcut icon, or using a Command Prompt. If you start CTC for the first time after you just ran the Windows’ installation procedure, CTC creates an installation code, which is used as a reference for all communications with us, and reports success. This installation code is stored in the user’s profile. You can find this installation code in Main Panel menu item “Help” → “About this Program”.

Subsequent starts of CTC will automatically load the most recent territory you used before. If you associate files with the extension “.ctc” with CTC, you can also click on the CTC territory file in the Explorer. Without association, Windows will ask which program you want to use – that’s where you can make the association permanent. Either way, CTC is started with a parameter – the file name of the territory, which will be loaded instead of the last used file.

In Command Prompt, you can also start CTC with the file name as a parameter – without it it will load the last used territory. If you have made the file association for “.ctc” to CTC, you can just type in the file name of the territory.
